One thing is for sure – the energy transition continues! Despite fear, challenge, opposition and uncertainty, there are so many companies across the map continuing to make progress. The argument for evolution has never been stronger. Energy security and resilience have always been targets, but rarely a priority. Now, the picture is unfortunately clear. Countries and companies cannot rely on globalised markets – there is too much price movement, too much exposure to logistical challenges, and too much left out of control.
Clearly, all European countries have realised this and are now looking inwardly while employing the help and guidance of global partners. Offshore wind, solar PV, decarbonisation technology, and hydrogen innovators are coming to the fore as the preeminent investors in the future of energy infrastructure. Bolstering this push is an unprecedented adoption of AI systems which is driving efficiency in operations and assisting in cost reductions. After some initial increase in spending to optimise AI tools, they are now embedded and, while it seemed to happen fast, they are not going anywhere.
Rotterdam Shore Power is a great example of a business taking the long view through these tough global conditions. The company is decarbonising ports and terminals by providing shore power connections that are perfectly designed and proven with the biggest clients. By always keeping the green transition in mind, and driving this through all relationships, the business has quickly become an industry leader.
Off the Dutch coast, in the North Sea, the Hollandse Kust West wind park is taking shape courtesy of Ecowende. This lighthouse project has been designed, constructed, and will be operated in harmony with nature – enhancing biodiversity. CEO Tjalling de Bruin tells us that the energy transition now makes more sense than ever, and building infrastructure that is sustainable is now a priority.
In the UK, Zestec Renewable Energy has partnered with Kingspan Insulated Panels and the pair are offering a fully funded solar rooftop installation, backed by Octopus Energy Generation, that can include the exciting new PowerPanel from Kingspan. Now, companies that don’t have a suitable roof for solar can upgrade their property and benefit from long-term cost certainty and clean energy.
Making the most of the country’s natural resources, P2X Solutions in Finland, has evolved from hydrogen company to comprehensive energy business that can now offer biofuels for transportation as well as green hydrogen and CO2 for district heating.
All of these companies are seeing opportunities instead of challenges. All are looking at the bigger picture. And all of them are keen to work with others who see that the next energy generation is nature-harmonious. Get in touch and tell us if you are embracing the ongoing transition. We’re always on LinkedIn.
