July 2022

Over the past two decades, technology has seeped further into the oil and gas industry. Traditionally driven by people and hardware, the drive for safety has moved people out and software in, and hardware has received major upgrades to ensure that the new software can run entire systems where possible.

This is a new frontier in the industry, and there are many companies are already conquering, displaying ingenious innovation to solve problems in a modern way.

In this edition, we look specifically at software and technology providers – alongside a host of other organisations – to understand more about what can be offered in energy through the cloud, digital systems, and modern online applications.

We spoke first to DuneFront, a pioneering sand control consultancy specialising in the maximisation of completion reliability. The company’s software simplifies, strengthens, and standardises oilfield methodology around sand control, and it counts almost all of the world’s majors as its clients. Based in the cloud, the future of this business is global but centralised in London.

Next, we heard from Drakken – the Dubai-based project management consultancy that is ‘obsessed with finding better ways for the world to execute projects’. By using modern systems to implement its electrical, controls, and instrumentation solutions, this growing business is now completing multi-faceted projects around the world.

Sherbet Electric Taxis Founder, Asher Moses, displays his relentless desire for data as he moves London from diesel to electric power in his ever-growing fleet of modern and efficient taxis.

And DeltaTek Global is using modern design to create ground-breaking technology used to ensure cement and casing in oil and gas wells. Clearly, the use of technology, advanced software, and digital innovation is boosting an industry described often as behind the times.
