Excitingly, carbon capture – so often lauded as a technology of the future that will change the game – is now being proven. UK company, Landmark Power Holdings has utilised a system from ASCO, alongside an engine set from Rolls Royce mtu, packaged by Yellow Power, and the whole design is producing low-emission power and food-grade CO2. It’s a remarkable project which is plugged into the national gas network and is specially designed to be easy to replicate.
Founder and CEO Mick Avison tells us about major progress onsite since we spoke last year. Now, the system is almost through its first year of running, and almost all of the snags have been ironed out leaving a blueprint for low emission power production and CO2 capture alongside clean flue gases – it’s an investor’s dream and is attracting big names from the data centre industry around the world.
From Qatar, we hear from East-West Digital, a new company from Iberdrola that will drive the utilisation of AI solutions that power sustainability. Managing Director of Iberdrola Innovation Middle East and CEO of East-West Digital, Santiago Bañales tells us that modern AI tools can provide major enhancements for companies looking to drive sustainability strategies and meet ESG targets.
Enspec Power, another exciting UK business, is giving some relief for the grid connection headache. Overloaded and backlogged, getting a grid connection to the National Grid requires a number of onerous steps for developers, but Enspec is making things that little easier through innovative engineering. CEO Mara Rastall tells us more about an MBO which has ushered in a new era for the company.
In Scotland, Europe’s largest white fish port is making big changes to ensure it remains central in the offshore energy sector. Expanding facilities, adding new services, building out infrastructure – it’s all happening at the Port of Peterhead where there is a major drive to create capacity for offshore wind and traditional oil and gas service providers.
